Step-by-Step Guide: Creating a Meta Business Account for Facebook & Instagram Marketing

If you're a business owner looking to start digital marketing on Facebook and Instagram, the first (and most important) step is setting up a Meta Business Account. This guide will walk you through the process clearly so you’re not left in a black box.
Meta (formerly Facebook) provides a tool called Meta Business Manager—a free dashboard that lets you manage your Facebook Page, Instagram account, Ads Manager, and team access—all in one place.
✅ Step 1: Go to Meta Business Suite
Click "Create account" if you're starting fresh.
Note: You’ll need a personal Facebook profile to get started. This doesn’t make your personal profile public—it’s just for ownership and login purposes.
✅ Step 2: Set Up Your Business Manager
Enter your business name, your name, and business email address.
Click "Submit".
You’ll now be inside Meta Business Manager—your central command hub.
✅ Step 3: Add Your Facebook Page
If you already have a Facebook Page for your business:
In the left menu, go to Business Settings → Pages
Click Add → Add a Page
Search for and select your business page
If you don’t have one:
Click Add → Create a Page
Choose the category, name, and details
✅ Step 4: Connect Your Instagram Account
In Business Settings, go to Accounts → Instagram Accounts
Click Add → Connect your Instagram
Log in with your Instagram business account credentials
Make sure your Instagram is a "Professional" (Business or Creator) account. You can switch it under your Instagram settings.
✅ Step 5: Set Up Ad Account
In Business Settings → Ad Accounts → Add
Choose Create a New Ad Account
Give it a name, set the time zone, currency, and assign access to yourself or team members
This is the account you’ll use to run paid ads on Facebook and Instagram.
✅ Step 6: Add People & Assign Roles
You can invite team members, marketers, or agencies:
Go to Business Settings → Users → People
Click Add
Enter their email and assign a role (Admin, Employee, or Custom access)
✅ Step 7: Set Up Your Payment Method
Go to Payment Settings under Ad Account Settings
Click Add Payment Method
Add a credit/debit card or PayPal account
✅ Step 8: Verify Your Domain (Optional but Recommended)
If you’re running ads that send people to your website:
Go to Brand Safety → Domains
Click Add, enter your domain, and follow the instructions to verify via DNS or HTML tag
✅ Step 9: Start Using Meta Business Suite or Ads Manager
You can now:
Schedule posts and stories via Meta Business Suite
Create and manage ads in Ads Manager
Track results, performance, and audience insights
✅ Pro Tips:
Use two-factor authentication for account security
Bookmark business.facebook.com for quick access
Set up Facebook Pixel on your website for better ad tracking (optional but powerful)
